Understanding the confusing regulation of pet food made easy (well, easier). Association for Truth in Pet Food provides consumers with ‘What to Know Before You Shop for Pet Food’, a pet food education document.

Choosing the right food for your pet is one of the most important decisions a consumer makes. Making that decision is challenging because pet food speaks a different language than human food. The term ‘chicken’ means one thing in human food, but could mean something very different in pet food. The words ‘Dinner’ or ‘Formula’ have specific meaning in pet food names. What is ‘crude protein’? What is a ‘meat meal’?

Association for Truth in Pet Food (ATPF) has compiled a booklet for consumers explaining many of the top confusing issues in pet food. Though not all inclusive (not sure there is a book big enough to explain it all), our goal with the booklet is to provide consumers a foundation to the ‘truth’ in pet food.
